Membership Groups Offer Insurance

Not everyone is able to get health insurance through their employer.  More and more individuals are becoming self employed or are working for small businesses that are unable to afford the benefits offered by larger corporations.

It is likely that the larger corporations can afford to offer health insurance as a benefit because the premiums they pay are smaller.  This comes from the number of people included in the corporations group.  Up until the last few years, smaller companies and individuals did not have the benefit of numbers to lower premiums.

Over the last several years many organizations have worked with insurance companies to negotiate group rates for their members.  These membership organizations (ones that limit membership and charge for membership or have specific requirements to become a member), are now offering their members lower premiums on health insurance by providing group policies.

The first place you want to look for group health insurance is your employer.  Typically an employer will contribute a portion of the premium payment.  This means that the benefit of working with that particular employer will likely be the lowest premium payments for health insurance.

The next place that you can look is membership groups.  Although you will still be responsible for paying the full premium on the health insurance policy the group rate will be far lower than for an individual policy.

It is possible to find great rates on health insurance through group policies without choosing an employer that offers health insurance benefits.  Joining membership groups can be an easy (and beneficial way) of finding low priced health insurance.
